Death is only the beginning.

NAMTAR is a 2D horror-metroidvania game set in a world of radiant decay.

Experience a hand-drawn neon purgatory, animated frame-by-frame, that blends the grotesque designs of H.R Giger with the dreamlike visions of Moebius. The result is is an aesthetic distinct from its peers-Blasphemous, Gris and Castelvania- that features surreal vibrant body horror as well as vivid alien landscapes.

Past, present and dreams merge, as you strive to remember who you are and what you’ve become. Take the plunge into the afterlife, communicate with otherwordly creatures and get oblitarated by a mesmerizing bullet hell boss fight.

A surreal descent through fear, beauty, and revelation.

I played the game for quite a while, and I really liked it. The visuals and the animations are unique. I loved the color palette and the character design overall, the aesthetic is very beautiful.

Now I’d like to comment on a few things regarding the gameplay.

I think it would be more enjoyable if the character could attack while moving (and not be forced to stay on hold during the attack), similar to how it works when you jump and attack.

(What I mean is: if you move with a double jump and attack while moving, you can keep attacking on the move, but if you’re not jumping, you can’t.)

Also, for the demo Boss shown in the showcase, I felt that the boss was quite easy. I think that the beams in Phase 2 should deal 2 ticks of damage, since their animation lasts long enough that they could theoretically hit you twice instead of just once. (Then I read about the normies’ QQ and how it got nerfed but anyway, rips.)

Moreover, if you play with a controller even though u can navigate through the title screen with the controller, when you are inside the game and press select, you cant navigate through "resume" "menu" and "quit" with it, you have to use the mouse.

Lastly, I wanted to mention a bug I found (which is expected in a demo, but I’m mentioning it just in case the devs haven’t noticed it). When the character is in the air, they attack faster. I’m not sure if that’s intentional. Keeping that in mind, I discovered that in the Second Phase of the Boss (when it’s between the four ledges), if you go and stand at the very edge of either the left or right ledge (pixel perfect)the game thinks the character is in the air. The character’s animation also changes to the “falling” pose with the raised knee. And because the game thinks you’re in the air, you attack 2–3 times faster than the normal attack speed deleting the boss (since, as I mentioned this happens due to the attacks being faster while airborne).

I have this captured on a video that i can provide if needed.

That’s all I had to say. I really liked the game. I have over 5k hours in metroidvania games like Hollow Knight, so I’m really looking forward to something like this from Greek devs.

Keep it up! <3

Really interesting art style for sure and I enjoyed the fight as well (even though it took me a few tries to figure out what to do at the end). Keep it up.

It's incredible how this game manages to build such a vibrant world in such a short time. The incredible visuals aren't just disembodied sprites that look nice, they work together to build a cohesive story which honestly comes to a great climax with the boss.

The bossfight itself is surprisingly engaging, has an incredibly satisfying ending, and also helps solidify the theme: the earth crumbles beneath your feet as you struggle to fight something that tries to escape you and is often out of reach.

I had the pleasure to work with the artist, and this is such a delight to play. Apart from the Art and graphics which are always amazing, I was surprised with the gameplay as well. I enjoyed the small platforming and the skill progression and how it was handled. Finally, I really enjoyed the boss encounter which was a really fun and challenging to play. Keep it up :) looking forward to see what is next.
